Volunteer for the Newport Marathon! Join us at the 15th annual Amica Newport Marathon on Sunday, October 13, 2024. With 13.1 and 26.2 miles of unrivaled oceanfront running, this award-winning fall classic in the City by the Sea is not to be missed!
WHAT: Save The Bay volunteers will support event staff during participant registration (Friday) or at the water station (Sunday).
WHERE/WHEN: There are two separate shifts for this need, please read carefully.
- Friday, October 11th, 4:30 - 7pm: Easton’s Beach (parking at beach) . We will have a tent in the West Lot set up at 175 Memorial Blvd, Newport, RI. Registration is handing out bibs and shirts to runners. Full orientation on site.
- Sunday, October 13th, 11am - 1:45pm: Purgatory Chasm water station (at about 699 Tuckerman Ave). Parking for the Chasm at 632 Tuckerman Ave, Middletown, RI. Parking along the side of the road, off the road is also permitted for this. The water station will have 4 tables set up with jugs of water, igloos of nuun, cups, and pitchers. The volunteers will fill the cups and help distribute to participants as they go by. There will be one early group and then Save The Bay volunteers will take over.
REGISTRATION: Register on our portal by clicking the red "respond" button. You will then receive an email follow-up with instructions from race coordinator, Claire Akin. You can register for one or both shifts.
AGE: This opportunity is set to 18+. If you are interested in participating with your children, please add that in the notes when you register.
NOTES:
- Team signup is not enabled for this need. If you are interested in signing up a team, they can register individually or contact July Lewis at jlewis@savebay.org for more information.
- This role is open to ages 18+.
- There is an additional waiver that will need to be handed in to race organizers on the day of the event. We will send this ahead of time to registered volunteers.
