WHAT: Come help us restore the dunes at Easton's Beach in Newport! We will be restoring dune habitat by planting American beach grass (Ammophila brevigulata).
WHEN: Monday, April 22 from 1-6pm. Sign up for one or both shifts (1-3:30pm or 3:30-6pm)!
WHERE: Easton's Beach, 175 Memorial Blvd, Newport, RI. Detailed parking information will be provided to registered volunteers before the event.
PREPARE FOR THE PLANTING:
- Always dress for the weather! It is often colder and windier at the beach.
- Bring your own water - we recommend a reusable bottle!
- Optional: You may want to bring your own trowel, work gloves or knee pads if you have them. Save The Bay will provide trowels, and gloves if needed.
- Check out this video of a recent planting project in Warwick to get inspired!
Registration notes:
- Pre-registration is required.
- Age requirements: Participants in dune grass planting must be 16+. See Youth volunteering for more information.
