WHAT: Join Save The Bay and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service for saltmarsh restoration work on the Narrow River! We will be loosening compacted soil, planting high marsh grasses, and hand-watering new plants.
WHERE: Meet at 94B Middlebridge Rd., Narragansett, RI 02882. This is the expected meeting location; it is possible some shifts may need to meet at nearby Sprague Bridge instead. Please check your messages before you leave just in case we need to make this switch.
WHEN: See below for shifts, and sign up for as many as you like!
PREPARE FOR THE PLANTING:
- Always dress for the weather in sturdy, closed-toe shoes. Boots are recommended if you have them.
- Bring your own water - we recommend a reusable bottle!
- Optional: You may want to bring your own work gloves. Save The Bay will provide shovels, trowels, and gloves if needed.
Registration notes:
- Pre-registration is required.
- Age requirements: Participants in this planting must be 18+. Ages 16+ may participate only if volunteering with a parent or legal guardian.
- Participants must be comfortable with outdoor work and able to lift 25 pounds.
- Team volunteering is not enabled for this project; reach out to July Lewis at jlewis@savebay.org if you are interested in signing up a small team.
- If the planting is full, join the waitlist! Spaces often open up.
Need documentation of service hours? We provide confirmation letters upon request! Just ask your cleanup leader at the end of the event.
