WHAT: Celebrate ZAP50 with a cleanup at Lincoln Woods! This is 50th anniversary of the Zap The Blackstone cleanup event in 1972, when 10,000 volunteers lined the banks of the Blackstone River to remove tons of trash. It became the largest one-day regional environmental clean-up in American history! This cleanup is a part of the ZAP50 effort to match the 10,000 volunteers that came out in 1972.

WHERE: Meet at the dam area on Stump Hill Rd. in Lincoln Woods State Park. See google map of the site and get directions. You can also view a video where we use Google street view to show you how to get to the dam.

PREPARE FOR THE CLEANUP:

  • REQUIRED: Review our Instructions & Safety Tips which include COVID-19 guidance.
  • Always dress for the weather in sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
  • Bring your own water - we recommend a reusable bottle!
  • Optional: You may want to bring your own work gloves, trash grabber, or bucket for collecting trash.
  • We will provide disposable gloves, trash bags, and hand sanitizer.

Registration notes:

  • Pre-registration is required.
  • Age requirements: Cleanups are recommended for ages 8+. Ages 16+ may participate independently; Ages 8-15 may participate with a parent or guardian. See youth volunteering for more information.
  • If the cleanup is full, join the waitlist! Spaces often open up.

Need documentation of service hours? We provide confirmation letters upon request! Just ask your cleanup leader at the end of the event.
