Description

Help us paint signs to say NO to offshore drilling!

The U.S. Department of the Interior is proposing an extreme, five-year plan to open the vast majority of U.S. continental-shelf waters to oil and gas exploration and drilling. The risks associated with oil and gas exploration and production threaten the extraordinary resources Save The Bay and our supporters have fought so hard to protect for nearly 50 years.

Save The Bay is organizing a rally to protest and get New England waters removed from this dangerous proposal, and we need volunteers to make signs! Save The Bay will provide posterboard and markers, but please feel free to contribute your own. Stay for all or part of the evening, and bring your creativity!

Though this event is family friendly anyone under the age of 16 MUST be accompanied by a parent.

NOTE: The rally itself will be held Wednesday, February 28, 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. Meet at the north side of the R.I. Statehouse and march together, signs in hand, to the Marriott at 1 Orms Street, Providence, where the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management is holding public meetings about the proposal. The meeting does not offer a chance for public testimony, so we are making our voices heard in a peaceful demonstration of our community's opposition to the plan. Join us at the State House or meet us at the hotel. View our Facebook Event for updates and more info, and sign our petition!
