At Save The Bay’s Hamilton Family Aquarium, our front desk volunteers welcome guests; process admission, membership, and gift shop sales; and restock and organize the gift shop. Check out our volunteer manual for an overview!
Time Commitment: 1 half-day shift per week for a period of 4 months. Multiple or full-day shifts are welcome.
Role & Responsibilities
- Complete all sales transactions on our card-only admission terminal
- Promote Save The Bay memberships
- Answer the phone
- Restock and organize the gift shop and literature rack as needed throughout the day
- Keep the front desk area clean/organized
- Engage with guests entering/exiting the aquarium and answer any questions
- Encourage people to fill out the feedback survey
Requirements
- Able to engage with guests in a professional manner
- Willing to learn or has experience with point of sale systems
- Prompt arrival for shifts in uniform provided by Save The Bay
- Undergo a criminal background check
- Able to follow communication procedures and promptly answer inquiries via phone or email
Shift Times
- Cohorts run from February-May, June-September, and October-January. We can accommodate semester length schedules for students. We occasionally offer cohorts starting in April, August, and December as staffing needs arise.

- Fall/Winter/Spring shift times
- AM 9:30am - 1pm
- PM 12:45 - 4:30pm
- FULL DAY 9:30am - 4:30pm w/ lunch break
- Summer shift times: July & August
- AM 8:30am - 12:30pm
- PM 12:15pm - 4:30pm
- FULL DAY 8:30am - 4:30pm w/ lunch break
