WHAT: Save The Bay seeks volunteers to support our table at the The Ocean Race: Exploration Zone Tent with other partners who focus on composting, lawn care, the soil food web, climate change and the ocean. Save The Bay Volunteers will assist staff in leading a simple educational activity about recycling and composting, and share information about Save The Bay and our Bay Friendly Living resource guide. See this Breakfast by the Bay video for information on the activity we will lead. We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, outgoing, and familiar with Save The Bay! Registered volunteers will receive a detailed packet with Save The Bay information, activity instructions, free parking information and any additional details before the event.
WHERE: Fort Adams Drive, Newport, RI 02840. Free parking is available for volunteers.
WHEN: Save The Bay's table will be running Monday 5/15-Friday 5/19. Shifts are 9am-1 pm Mon-Thurs. Friday shifts are 9-noon, noon-3 pm, and 3-6 PM. Sign up for as many shifts as you like!
DETAILS: The Ocean Race is a 38,000-mile yacht race around the world. Starting in Alicante, Spain and visiting 8 different countries, the race is sailing’s toughest contest. The Ocean Race stopover in Newport is supported by 11th Hour Racing - a longtime annual funder to Save The Bay's habitat restoration and education programs.
