Help keep our shoreline clean by training as an assistant leader for the International Coastal Cleanup with Save The Bay! At this global event, volunteers clean up litter on the shore and record what they find for an international report on marine debris. Save The Bay coordinates this event in Rhode Island and we need leaders to make it happen! At this training you will learn the nuts and bolts of assisting a trained Save The Bay leader with a shoreline cleanup. Once you have assisted at at least 4 cleanups you will be eligible to level up to plan and lead your own cleanups with Save The Bay! We are looking for leaders who are:
- Energetic & welcoming
- Reliable & responsible
- Communicative
- Willing to assist with at least 4 cleanups this season
- Age 16 + (if working independently) or age 13+ (if working with a parent). Parents working with their children to lead cleanups must take the training too.
Things you will learn:
- How our cleanup program works
- Cleanup leader basics - welcoming volunteers, handing out supplies, safety tips
- How to check volunteers in on your phone using the volunteer portal
- How to organize volunteers to collect data on what they pick up using the Clean Swell App or data cards
- Tips and tricks for leadership
- How to sign up to assist with leading a cleanup
- Anything you want to ask!
