WHAT: Help keep Narragansett Bay clean! Shoreline trash is ugly and dangerous to wildlife, and shoreline cleanups are a great way for volunteers to make a difference. This is going to be a heavy duty cleanup that will focus on the extensive breakwater at Salter Grove, where there is a lot of accumulated trash. For this cleanup we are looking for physically fit volunteers who are comfortable walking on the jetty rocks. Open to ages 13+, however all minors (including ages 16+) should be accompanied and supervised by their parent or legal guardian.
WHERE: Salter Grove Park. Use 461 Narragansett Parkway, Warwick as an approximate GPS address for beach location. Please keep an eye out for a small sign on Narragansett Parkway for George B Salter Grove. NOTE: Parking lot is very small! Please park in the neighborhood streets across Narragansett Parkway if you can, to leave room for families with children to use the park.
PREPARE FOR THE CLEANUP:
- REQUIRED: Review our Instructions & Safety Tips which include COVID-19 guidance.
- Always dress for the weather in sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
- Bring your own water - we recommend a reusable bottle!
- Optional: You may want to bring your own work gloves, trash grabber, or bucket for collecting trash.
- We will provide disposable gloves, trash bags, and hand sanitizer.
Registration notes:
- Pre-registration is required.
- Age requirements: This cleanup is recommended for ages 13+. Because of the heavy duty nature of this cleanup, all minor volunteers must participate with a parent or guardian. Parents with children will be asked to sign a family waiver at the event.
