Description

Join the fight against litter as a Save The Bay cleanup leader!

Save The Bay hosts volunteer cleanups all over the Narragansett Bay area, and we need your help to do it! The more leaders we have, the more cleanups we can offer, and the cleaner Narragansett Bay will be.

Leading cleanups with Save The Bay is something anyone can do - we make it easy! We provide both training and supplies, and can arrange permission and trash pickup from the park or town. We are looking for leaders that are reliable, responsible, willing to adhere to our safety standards, and available for leading several cleanups a year.

At this training you will learn the nuts and bolts of how to lead a community cleanup with Save The Bay. We will go over the leader's role, how to set up, and how to check people in via our volunteer portal. Then you will have the opportunity to sign up for one of our early practice cleanups to go over these steps in person with a trained leader.

Once you have completed training, you will be on Save The Bay's cleanup leaders list. We will periodically email you when we need leaders for cleanups on our calendar. You can also work with Save The Bay to plan a cleanup at a location and date of your choosing! Cleanups work best when led by two leaders - you can lead with a trained friend or family member, or we will match you up with another leader.

Cleanup leadership is appropriate for volunteers 13+ years old, but any cleanup leaders under 18 must have a parent or guardian as a co-leader.

Please note: this training is not eligible for community service hours.
