WHAT: In partnership with the Town of Westerly, Save The Bay staff and volunteers will be planting beach grass in the dunes along the Town Beach that were damaged during storms this past December and January. Also called American beach grass, this plant can grow in an arid environment, and has a root system that extends up to 3 feet. The grass captures and traps fine wind-blown sand and helps create dunes. Our goal is to plant all 10,000 plants in just one day!
WHEN: Friday, April 5, 9:30am-12pm and 12:30-3pm. Feel free to sign up for both shifts!
WHERE: 365 Atlantic Ave, Westerly, RI 02891
