Did you know that the water from most storm drains flows directly into streams, rivers, and Narragansett Bay? That means anything dumped into those drains - such as chemicals, motor oil, and pet waste - pollutes our beautiful Bay. But you can make a difference by contributing to our storm drain marking project in Portsmouth!
WHAT: At this orientation, we will provide volunteers with training and supplies to mark storm drains in in the Portsmouth Park and Island Park areas of Portsmouth. It's easy and takes just a few minutes to show you how - just apply the glue, press the tag on the curb, and you're done! Volunteers will commit to marking specific streets in these neighborhoods on dry-weather days on their own schedule. If we complete these neighborhoods, volunteers can move on to other areas of Portsmouth.
WHERE: In the Michael W. Mello Program Room at the Portsmouth Public Library, 2658 E Main Rd, Portsmouth, RI 02871.
WHEN: Monday, July 8th, 6:30 - 7:30pm
WHO: Anyone living in the Portsmouth area! Volunteers under 16 must participate with an adult.
