We are now accepting internships for summer 2026!
Save The Bay is a non-profit organization whose mission is to protect and improve Narragansett Bay. Save The Bay's internship program offers in-depth opportunities to become part of the Save The Bay Team. If you would like to be notified when we post a new internship, please create an account, navigate to the programs page, and select "become a fan" of the internship program.
THE BASICS
- Time Commitment: Interns commit to a semester or more of work. Specific requirements vary by internship, see individual descriptions.
- Transportation: Interns must have reliable transportation to their internship location; please note that the Providence location is about a 1 mile walk from the nearest RIPTA bus stop. Some internships require a personal vehicle (car). See individual descriptions for specifics, and check out this student RIPTA resource.
- Who can apply: While internships are geared toward college students, we accept applications from masters level students and above, recent graduates, and anyone else who is able to commit to the internship.
- Mature high school students ages 16+ may apply to the Aquarium programs (aquarist, educator). All other programs are 18+.
- We do not accept court-ordered community service volunteers for internships.
- Save the Bay internships are unpaid. We are happy to work with schools that offer credit, funding, or work study for internships. Check out our Student Guide to Internship Funding.
- Deadline: Most summer internships have an initial deadline of April 10, though may close early if an applicant is found. Specifics are noted in the individual descriptions. We will continue to accept applications as long as positions are available. Final decisions will be made by May 6, 2026.
