Position Description Save The Bay is seeking enthusiastic and outgoing Counselors-In-Training for the summer of 2026. The ideal candidate should enjoy working with children, being outdoors, and being on boats during all summer weather. The Counselor-In-Training (CIT) will work side-by-side with education staff leading activities, playing games, creating crafts, and exploring the bay. The CIT position is an unpaid volunteer opportunity. You can read about the types of camps you would be working with on our website. Responsibilities Must commit to at least one full week of summer camp in Providence (see application for selecting camp weeks) Must commit to the full week of any week selected (cannot skip days) Assist with games, crafts and outdoor exploration Prepare and lead your own activity with each camp week Prep and cleanup of activities Be a positive role model to campersRequirements Required age 16-18 Strong interest in marine and environmental scienceDuring this camp, you will travel to remote locations around the Bay. Many locations require the vessel to anchor and attendees to swim or wade to shore. Great personality and fun sense of humor Strong desire to teach and learn about the Bay environment Enjoy being around children of all ages Prior attendance in Save The Bay camps/program is a plus Reliable transportation to and from Save The Bay each day Must arrive by 9:00am and picked up at 4:00 pm each day Completed waiver form by parent/guardian Age 18+ must complete Federal Background CheckTo Apply Please complete the online application. Check out our volunteer manual for an overview! Time Commitment: 1 half-day shift per week for a period of 4 months. Multiple or full-day shifts are welcome.
