Safety vessels' duty is to watch for: Safety Vessels will report any issues to Save The Bay staff according to our safety protocol, which will be provided and gone over in a training session held before the event. Boats must meet the following qualifications: Boat size: 18 - 50-foot (Inflatables can be 14-foot) Boat must be easy to maneuver Boat needs to have the capacity to easily retrieve a swimmer from the water with tools such as a good swim platform, a low railing to bring someone up or a swim ladder so it's easy to get in and out.Required: Attend a Zoom information and training session in advance of the event; date and time TBA. This team is for people who are ready to go deep! Positioned in and around the finish line in the water, these volunteers will funnel swimmers toward the finish line and be ready to assist any swimmer who might need a little help. You will be waist to chest deep in water and may wear a wetsuit, bathing suit, or shorts. YOU MUST WEAR WATER SHOES for this role - no flip flops! Although not required, this may be an especially good role for you if: You have a wetsuit You have lifeguard training You are tall You are a strong swimmerAll Jamestown volunteers will also help with beach setup and breakdown. Volunteer: Swim 2026: Jamestown Swim RoadiesCreate an account if it is your first time here! This team will be stationed in the Party Tent area but assisting anywhere needed on the Jamestown side. Set up pop up tents, tables, and chairs; manage trash and recycling; move ice and water to the finish line; assist with directing people to shuttles, and with breakdown of the party tent area. Volunteers for this role may park at the RIBTA parking lot, 1 East Shore Rd, Jamestown, instead of the main volunteer parking area. You will use the entrance across from Freebody Drive instead of the main entrance - see map pin for exact location. This will be a longer role than most.
